Effective mid-January 2021, BWXT NEC’s Peterborough operations will commence use of new automation to sort completed pellets prior to insertion into fuel bundle tubes. Prior to this improvement, this sorting process was completed by hand at BWXT NEC’s Toronto facility. This new automation process will be performed within the same area of the Peterborough facility that currently prepares completed pellets for insertion into fuel bundle tubes.

In addition to this process improvement, the BWXT NEC Peterborough facility is upgrading its ventilation system which will entail modifications on the roof of Building 21 on Monaghan Road.
