What is the application process like? 

Our application process can be easily completed online. Begin by creating a profile, where you’ll upload your resume and detail your work experience and educational background. Once your profile is complete, you can seamlessly apply for multiple opportunities across BWXT with a single click. This ensures your qualifications are considered for all relevant positions. 

What is the typical interview process? 

Following your application, our Human Resources team will review your resume and profile. If your qualifications align with our needs, we will contact you via email, text, or phone to schedule an interview. The initial interview may be conducted in person or virtually, depending on the role. Typically, our interview process involves two rounds, with one being an on-site visit. After the on-site interview, a thorough evaluation is conducted, and you will be promptly notified of the selection decision.

How long does the hiring process take? 

The duration of our hiring process varies depending on the specific position. Positions that do not require a security clearance generally have a faster turnaround, typically within 45-60 days. For positions requiring security clearance, the process may extend by 3-6 months due to the necessary background investigations. Regardless of the position, all successful candidates must complete pre-employment screening, which includes a background check, employment verification, education verification, credit check (where applicable), reference checks, and a pre-employment drug screen.  

Do I need a security clearance for certain positions? 

Yes, security clearances are required for certain positions, particularly those related to national security or classified projects. The specific requirements will be outlined in the job description. 

What experience is required for entry-level positions? 

The experience requirements for entry-level positions are job-specific and vary depending on the role. Many entry-level positions require a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, coupled with relevant experience. Some positions may also require specific certifications or coursework. We encourage you to carefully review the job posting for the position you’re interested in to understand the specific requirements.

What does the intern program look like? 

We offer a rich and robust paid internship program across our facilities in the United States and Canada, partnering with over 50 colleges and universities. As an intern, you’ll engage in meaningful projects, collaborating with experienced teams and contributing to real-world solutions. Our program extends beyond technical assignments, providing opportunities for community engagement, mentorship, professional development and networking with fellow students and industry professionals. Internship opportunities are typically posted between September and November for assignments beginning the following May/June. Our internships are paid, and housing stipends are available for eligible candidates.
