ERWIN  

Our Nuclear Fuel Services (NFS) facility in Erwin, Tennessee manufactures fuel material for all naval nuclear reactors used in U.S. submarines and aircraft carriers. NFS also converts Cold War-era government stockpiles of highly enriched uranium (HEU) into material suitable for further processing into commercial nuclear reactor fuel. By converting uranium materials into useful fuel to generate electricity, NFS eliminates a threat to our national security while powering the future of clean energy for American consumers and businesses. 

Our Erwin, TN plant is one of two locations that is licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to store and process HEU.

EUCLID  

Our operations in Euclid, Ohio includes two unique, world-class facilities. The team in Euclid employ cutting edge technologies to support the design, fabrication, and testing of critical electromechanical components for naval reactors used in U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers. Our Euclid facility is equipped to build on the proud tradition of defense program precision manufacturing.

JONESBOROUGH 

Our Jonesborough, Tennessee facility is a leading provider of advanced specialty materials, fabrication and high-strength alloy manufacturing. As the sole provider of depleted uranium to the U.S. government, the facility also produces specialized materials, a wide variety of reactive materials and custom alloys.

LYNCHBURG  

Our one million square feet facility in Lynchburg, Virginia, principally manufactures naval nuclear reactors for submarines and aircraft carriers as well as serving as the only U.S. domestic supplier of highly enriched uranium (HEU) and low-enriched uranium (LEU) aluminum-clad, plate-type reactor fuel assemblies for research and test reactors for American colleges, universities and national laboratories.  

BWXT’s Advanced Technologies division resides at the BWXT Innovation Campus (BIC) in Lynchburg, Virginia. This facility has all design, build and test capabilities that deliver advanced nuclear systems and the 170,000 square-foot facility showcases our advanced nuclear development and deployment activities.

MOUNT VERNON  

Our Mount Vernon, Indiana facility is located at the southwestern tip of Indiana and situated on a 100-acre site. The facility is equipped with large CNC machine tools along with sophisticated welding and heat-treating equipment to produce quality components for naval reactors used in U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers. Mount Vernon’s operations integrate engineering and advanced, state-of-the-art manufacturing systems which promises positive business conditions for years to come.
