Numerous utilities and industrial customers across North America have turned to B&W PGG to evaluate the feasibility of converting their coal-fired boilers to burn or co-fire a variety of carbon-neutral fuels, including woody biomass, wood waste and beet pulp. B&W PGG also has been selected to build a biomass boiler for a major U.S. university and to convert two coal-fired boilers owned by a large, mid-western electric utility to burn pulverized wood pellets.
"Throughout 2009 and now in 2010, B&W PGG has demonstrated to customers that it is an industry leader in power generation solutions from biomass and other clean fuels," said B&W PGG President and Chief Operating Officer Richard L. Killion. "As America and the world move toward using cleaner, more sustainable fuel sources, we're poised to meet the needs of our customers."
Engineering work for the boiler projects and engineering studies is currently underway at B&W PGG's Barberton headquarters.
