B&W Announces Charles G. Spencer Chief Operating Officer, B&W Technical Services Group, Inc.

The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced today that Charles (Chuck) G. Spencer has joined Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc. (B&W TSG) as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Spencer will oversee TSG's operations and projects both in the U.S. and internationally. Mr. Spencer will also be responsible for contractor assurance, operational excellence, environmental, safety & health as well as human performance initiatives.

"His experience will be a tremendous asset as our business continues to grow and execute its missions at many of the government's high-consequence nuclear weapons sites and environmental management (EM) projects."

Mr. Spencer has more than 25 years of experience in the nuclear industry with an emphasis on National Nuclear Security Administration sites and EM projects. Serving in positions of increased responsibility with URS Corporation, Mr. Spencer most recently served as President of Washington River Protection Solutions, LLC, where he led a $7.1 billon remediation of radioactive and hazardous waste tanks at the DOE's Hanford site in southeastern Washington. Prior to that, Mr. Spencer served as President of Washington Closure Hanford LLC, managing the River Corridor Closure Project at DOE's Hanford Site. Mr. Spencer also served as Senior Vice President of Management and Operations for the Global Management & Operations Services Group. In this role, he was responsible for operations at the Idaho National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Waste Isolation Pilot Project. During his professional career, Mr. Spencer also served as an attorney for Centerior Service Company, a public utility holding company in Ohio.

Mr. Spencer earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering technology from Youngstown State University and a juris doctor degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law.
