B&W, Employees Make Holiday Donations Benefitting Hundreds of Central Va. Families

19 December 2013

(LYNCHBURG, Va. – December 18, 2013) – B&W and its employees are getting into the spirit of the holiday season by giving to others in the community, donating more than two tons of turkey breasts and spiral-sliced hams to area food banks, plus truckloads of toys, clothes and other gifts to area children, women and young adults.

Last week, the company donated more than 150 hams and 270 bone-in turkey breasts to Lynchburg Daily Bread and the Salvation Army, which is expected to serve at least 425 area families in need.

In addition, a number of B&W's Lynchburg-area employees participated in the company's annual Angel Tree program, through which they purchased gifts, including toys, clothing and personal items for approximately 70 local children, women and young adults in need. Area organizations supported this year include: Campbell County Department of Social Services, YWCA Domestic Violence Prevention Center, Patrick Henry Family Services and Miller Home for Girls.

"B&W has a long history of community support and we're very pleased to continue our spirit of giving this holiday season," said Peyton S. Baker, president of Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Operations Group, headquartered in the Lynchburg area. “We hope our actions will inspire other companies and their employees to reach out and help others in need during the holidays and throughout the year."
