B&W and Chem-Mod Sign Environmental Technology License Agreement
(CHARLOTTE, N.C. – January 22, 2013) – The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced today that its Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc. (B&W PGG) subsidiary and Chem-Mod LLC (Chem-Mod) have signed a ten-year U.S. license agreement allowing Chem-Mod to use B&W PGG’s Mitagent™ combustion additive.
Chem-Mod will use Mitagent in conjunction with its patented coal additive technologies, The Chem-Mod™ Solution, for the reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx), mercury (Hg) and other emissions created during the combustion process. The use of Mitagent is expected to improve the performance of Chem-Mod’s signature coal additive technologies in addition to providing benefits for SCR systems.
