B&W Awards Scholarships to 12 Outstanding Local Students

(CHARLOTTE, N.C. – July 18, 2014) – The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) (NYSE:BWC) announced today that 12 high school students who have a parent working for B&W were selected to receive college scholarships.

Each student will receive $1,500 per year of college-level study, up to $6,000 over four years. Recipients were selected based on a combination of factors, including academic excellence and financial need. The awardees are children of employees who work for B&W and its subsidiaries at sites in Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Ontario, Canada.

Recipients are: 

  • Erin Caple, daughter of Peter Caple, project engineer, B&W Nuclear Energy, Inc. – Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
  • Tiffany Casturo, daughter of Scott Casturo, project manager, B&W Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. – Barberton, Ohio
  • Lauren Centa, daughter of Mark Centa, project manager, B&W Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. – Barberton, Ohio
  • Carson Corle, son of Douglas Corle, welding engineering manager, B&W Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. – Barberton, Ohio
  • Matthew DePero, son of Michael DePero, project manager, B&W Power Generation Group, Inc. – Barberton, Ohio
  • Holcombe Hughes III, son of Teresa Hughes, radiographer, B&W Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. – Lynchburg, Va.
  • James Keyser, son of James Keyser, field service engineer, B&W Power Generation Group, Inc. – Barberton, Ohio
