BWXT to Ring Closing Bell at New York Stock Exchange
(LYNCHBURG, Virginia – Dec. 16, 2015) – The BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:BWXT) executive team will ring the closing bell following tomorrow’s trading session on the New York Stock Exchange. In July, BWXT completed a spin-off of its power generation business and began trading on the exchange under a new ticker symbol: BWXT.
“Ringing the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange is a way to remind investors and customers about the past success and future opportunity of our Company,” said BWXT Executive Chairman John A. Fees. “Ringing the closing bell is a classic tradition, and it’s an honor to have the opportunity to participate.
BWXT President and CEO Peyton S. (Sandy) Baker added, “We are looking forward to representing our more than 5,000 employees at the event and marking the highly successful completion of our spinoff work and entry into the market as BWXT. This is a great note on which to close out the year and begin looking ahead to 2016.”
The bell ringing will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the New York Stock Exchange in New York. The event will be live-streamed on the web at https://www.nyse.com/bell.
According to the New York Stock Exchange, “One of the most familiar images of the NYSE on the evening news is the loud ringing of a bell, signaling the opening or closing of the day’s trading. Trading floor bells are more than just a colorful tradition. They are critical to the orderly functioning of the marketplace, assuring that no trades take place before the opening or after the close.”
