(LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sept. 3, 2024) – BWX Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BWXT) announced today that Gary D. Camper has been appointed president of BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, Inc. (NOG) effective Sept. 1, 2024.

In this role, Camper will lead more than 5,000 employees at five sites across four states in their mission to manufacture nuclear reactor components and fuel for U.S. Navy submarines and aircraft carriers.

“With more than 40 years of experience, Gary’s unparalleled knowledge of our business and customers positions him well to lead us into the future,” BWXT Government Operations President Kevin McCoy said. “His promotion is a testament to his exceptional leadership and deep-rooted expertise in the industry.”

Camper spent much of his career at the company’s largest manufacturing site in Lynchburg, Virginia where he led project management, quality control, engineering and operations departments. He was subsequently named vice president of contracts and procurement for BWXT before most recently serving as chief operating officer of NOG.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Old Dominion University and is a member of the industrial advisory board for the ODU engineering department. He also serves as the co-chair of the executive committee for the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing program and is a board member of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance.
